Mijas

Wednesday, June 26, 2013
After class we met in the lobby at 2:00 to take a public bus to Mijas.  When we first got there we took about 20 minutes to take pictures under the Mijas sign because it was so pretty and colorful.

Next we walked a short way to El Compas View Point and Shrine of the Virgin of the Rock.  We took pictures and enjoyed the view.

After taking pictures some of us got caramel nuts that were so delicious.  We then walked to the Parish Church.  The Church was finished in 1631.  We then walked to a different area to enjoy the view some more.

Next we started walking through the town to get to the bottom of the Mountain Sierra Mijas to start our journey up.  The houses and buildings were absolutely beautiful and the town was spotless.  The blue pots with red flowers hung everywhere.  I have never seen anything like this and it was absolutely amazing.

Next we started our hike up one of the trails on the Sierra Mijas Mountain.  The trail was a dirt and rocky path that was straight uphill.  It was hard to climb up because it was steep.  We walked up the mountain for about 45 minutes and at that point a lot of us were very tired and over it.  We already had seen a gorgeous view from high up there and decided to head down the mountain.  While we waited for the rest of the group we got Tapas and cold drinks.  Later we called the others who were still on the mountain and they got lost twice and were still climbing.  The last bus to leave Mijas was at 8:05 and some of the group wasn't back yet.  We were all getting nervous but finally they came down just in time.  Once back in Torremolinos a few of us grabbed pizza and ate it in the room so we could relax.

Today the family also went to Sevilla.  They spent the day touring around. Some places they went to were Plaza de Espana, Jewish Quarters, Sevilla Catherdral, and Barrio Santa Cruz.
